Busy Weekend

We were very busy this past weekend. Sheldon's friend Chris and his wife Jennifer, along with Chris' daughter Kate came up from Houston for the weekend. The kids got to meet for the first time and I think they had a good time playing together. I went to a surprise birthday party for Allison Friday night while Sheldon stayed at home with Pierce and waited for Chris to get here. Saturday the weather was just perfect, so we all took a drive out to Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch in Pilot Point. What a great place for both kids and adults. They had camels, zebras, lemurs, kangaroos and a host of other animals. The cost was much less than the zoo and we were able to get very close to the animals when we went on the "African safari." The camels came right up to the tram to eat out of buckets!! I would highly recommend this place, we can't wait to go back again when Pierce is a little older, though he did seem to enjoy it this time around. Their website is www.sharkarosa.com. Saturday we went to another surprise birthday party for Suzanne and Chris and Jen were gracious enough to stay at the house with Pierce. It was fun to have a night out with friends. Sunday evening we went to the fall festival at church, where Pierce had a blast going through the bounce house with us and seeing all his friends. He loves to hug people so he got some great hugs from his friend Maggie and was even hugging complete strangers when he got done with the bounce house. Lots of pictures below!

Pictures from the wildlife ranch

I'm not sure who was more intimidated here =)

This poor deer was hit by a car. By the time he was rescued and brought to the ranch, his jaw has already healed like this. Doctors x-ray'd it and said that he was in no pain so they decided not to operate to fix it. He seems to be living a happy life the way he is.

Kate and Pierce, she was holding him to be sure he didn't fall off the seat

Pierce's buddy Maggie, he kept hugging her, it was so darn cute!! Unfortunately, this is the only semi-clear picture I got

And then they fell over =)
